When will IPL 2020 start?

The date of the tournament is one of the biggest pressure in this year’s IPL cricket game. The 2020 season of the league was postponed for several months that almost the entire calendar of activities for the league was rescheduled to a later date. To recall, IPL 2020 started in late September.

For this year’s tournament, there is still no official start date announcement. However, the officials scheduled the start of the event tentatively for 11 April 2021. The first cricket matched will be played by Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capital.

As mentioned, changes may happen regarding the date, however, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) cannot delay the date much because India will also host the ICC Cricket T20 World Cup 2021.

This is good news not only for the fans but also for the bettors who are itching for Cricket online betting action.

Are there new teams for this year’s league?

One of the popular speculations in IPL 2021 is the addition of two new teams in the league. But after the 89th annual general meeting of the officials in Ahmedabad, the BCCI has confirmed that the league will continue to be played by eight teams.

According to one BCCI official, there will be not enough time for the introduction of new teams for IPL 2021, tendering players’ auction, and finding stakeholders. The addition of the team will only be possible from IPL 2022.

The same team will be participating in the IPL 2021. These teams are Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kings Xi Punjab, and Rajasthan Royals.

How many matches will take place in IPL cricket 2021?

A total of 60 matches are expected to be played in IPL 2021. If the tentative date of the tournament will be pushed through, the IPL 2020 will start on April 11, 2021, and the final game of the league will be played on June 6, 2021.

IPL 2021 Auction

BCCI is planning to organize a mini-auction by mid of February 2021.  It is expected to start at 3:30 PM and live coverage will be available to some TV channels and other media.

In mini-auction, franchises can bid for a few new players. This will benefit already settled teams such as Mumbai Indians, but it will be bad news for the teams that wanted to rebuild their squad.

The venue

The entire IPL 2021 tournament is expected to be played in India. But there is a chance that the venue will change to UAE once the public health order in the country once again goes out of control.
